Photon’s Update 07/04/2013

Happy 4th of July everyone! What a wonderful country we live in here in the United States!

Typically when I post, I try to talk about some facet of game design… well, not today. Truth be told, I’ve had a busy week at work so far and its been sort of draining. I’ve found it kind of hard to focus on my design stuff…

BUT… that being said, I am nearly complete with my latest project G-Team.

Nearly. I still have some graphics to do and I need to get the main menu and the like in. Nothing too extensive. I’m just finding it slightly… difficult to hang in there. This has been an interesting project, most namely in the fact that, though I certainly tried to make it a good one, I’m not sure I quite like making physics puzzlers. Not only do you have to have somewhat realistic physics, but fine-tuning levels can be a pain. If you modify one facet of the physics, for instance, that could throw off your entire game. Either you have to stick with the near same stuff throughout the entire process or revisit level design for all that you’ve done so far if you make a physics change. That… and my typical dilemna with level design.

I guess I feel like this type of game just doesn’t speak to me as much. Maybe I’d rather be making an engaging strategy title or some cutt-throat platformer. I’m not sure I can exactly pinpoint why, per se. I like puzzle games and platformer games. The important thing, I suppose, is that I learn about what keeps me going in game design and what stops me. I’m still sort of figuring that out. 🙂

Anyway, hopefully G-Team will be coming to you somewhere sometime soon! Keep an eye out. In the meantime, I’ve also been contemplating my next project. Though I’ve many ideas, I put what were some of my favorites out for others to see here:

Stop by and vote on your favorite, and tell me why you want to see that game! Until next time, later!
